I learnt how to make this simple yet delicious Lebanese cake from my husband’s auntie who is a wonderful Lebanese cook. This cake is dry to taste but perfect in its light and fragrant texture. Its super simple to make so give it a try!
2 cups self raising flour
2 cups fine semolina
2 ¼ cups caster sugar
2 tablespoons turmeric powder
3 Teaspoons Baking powder
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups of milk
¼ cup tahini for your baking dish
Preheat your oven to 170 degrees fan.
Mix all ingredients together in a mixing bowl
Smear a 40cm pan with tahini (I use an aluminium round trays)
Pour the mixture slowly into the pan and tap on your benchtop to remove any bubbles. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and cook for approximately 30 minutes
Allow to cool, cut and enjoy! Sahten!
